Interfaze Productions
An Imagined Country is being produced by Interfaze Educational Productions, Inc., a 501(c) 3 non-profit, tax-exempt organization incorporated in March of 1996 whose expressed mission is to support film as art; and to encourage films that re-examination our past to better inform social progress in our future and stimulate thought provoking discussion around issues of major social concern in today’s society. The non-profit was formed by a group of independent filmmakers to produce and also act as fiscal agent for films of artistic, historical, and social/cultural value. It’s funding is provided by grants from private foundations, individual donors and government agencies, such as the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, State Humanities Organizations, and licensing fees from PBS entities such as ITVS and LPB (Latino Broadcasting).
Interfaze is not a distribution Company, but its films reach a wide general audience both in the US and Internationally. To date Interfaze has produced several award wining documentaries including: Daughter From Danang directed by Gail Dolgin & Vicente Franco (won best documentary at Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for an academy award. Aired on PBS “The American Experience” series), and Archeology of Memory: Villa Grimaldi directed by Quique Cruz & Marilyn Mulford (Won the audience award for documentaries at the Mill Valley Film Festival, 2008, the Special Jury Prize in the Arts, Mendocino Film Festival in 2009. and was nominated for an IDA music award. It Aired on National PBS “Global Voices” series, and is distributed educationally by Daniel Bickle at Berkeley Media LLC), and Barber of Birmingham, a portrait of an African American Civil Rights worker voting for an African American president, producer/director Robin Fryday and Gail Dolgin. Nominated for an academy award in short doc category in 2011.
Interfaze has acted as a fiscal sponsor for several documentary videos including: Cruz Reynoso: A Man for All Seasons, directed by Abby Ginzberg and funded by CCH, aired on National PBS in 2009, Children of The Amazon, directed by Denise Zemekhol and funded by ITVS, LPB, & the Tides Foundation, aired on National PBS in 2009, educational distributor California Newsreel, Awakening From Sorrow: Buenos Aires 1997, directed by John Knoop & Karina Epperiein, Phoenix Dance, directed by Karina Epperiein, (nominated for Academy Award in short documentary category),
